La Grange du Bois is one of the heights of the region. It´s a peaceful village adjoining the Maconnais, Beaujolais and Charolais areas which – between firs and meadows – survey the vineyards of Pouilly-Fuissé.
Here Karine and Guy offer lodgings as Chambres d’hôtes , that is Bed and Breakfast, or country lodgings called gîtes ruraux. They also offer farm products and you may take part in a special stay, a séjour à thèmes, to discover a region full of tradition and with a gentle way of life.

  Les gîtes ruraux

The property, Le Domaine des bonshommes, is a unit of 3 gîtes, country lodgings, managed by Karine and Guy. A party of 12 persons or 3 separate families lodge comfortably here.
The largest lodging is called ”le Charolais”. It´s on the ground floor facing a closed private yard with patio and barbecue.
When you enter you first discover a large livingroom of about 40 square metres. At the other end of the room you find armchairs and a bed-settee for 2 persons. There are also books, parlour-games and a small TV. On the opposite side is the dining room and the kitchen, equipped with a dishwasher, a cooker with oven and hood, a microwave oven, a toaster, a coffee maker etc.
Besides, there are 2 rooms. The blue room contains 2 single beds which could be placed side by side. In the yellow room there is a double bed of 160 cm. This room has the use of a small private balcony with a pretty view. In the bathroom you find a shower, a washing-machine, a hair-drier and an iron. The toilet is separate.
Carefully restored, this traditional stone house passes on the peacefulness and the serenity of the place.
The two other lodgings are 2 studios of 30 and 35 square metres: ”le Maconnais” and ”le Beaujolais”. They are ”twins” on the first floor, served by a wooden gallery facing the Saône valley and the Rock of Solutré. At your disposition there is a common closed yard with patio and barbecue.
Each studio is arranged in the following way: Livingroom containing dining room with a kitchenette, a double bed in the far end of the room, and a bathroom with a washing-machine etc. The Maconnais is planned for 4 persons as it has a bed-settee for 2 persons as well. The Beaujolais is planned for 2 persons. These two studios can easily be rented together.

  Les chambres d´hôtes

Karine welcomes you in an ancient residence with a unique view of the Rock of Solutré and the Saône valley.
Three bed and breakfast, chambres d´hôtes, with private bathrooms and toilets await you:
“La Saônette” with a double bed, a bathroom and a single bed on the mezzanine. This room suits perfectly one couple with a third single person or 2 friends guarding their privacy.
“La Rochette” with a double bed of 160cm and a bed-settee for 2 persons. This is ideal for a couple or a young family.
“La Courette” is a large suite of 35 square metres with a very spacious bathroom. 2 couples or a big family stay easily here, where one part of the suite has a single bed and a bed-settee of 140cm, and the other part a double bed of 160cm.
Karine and her family are well acquainted with allergic problems and have adapted their house to these nuisances.
The breakfast will be served in a large panoramic room, formerly a restaurant. Through the picture windows you can contemplate the great beauty spot – the rocks of Solutré and Vergisson – as well as the valley of the Saône.
This room is at your disposition during your stay. Here you find books, tourist information, a big football game, called baby-foot in French, and other games for the children as well as for the grown-ups. In the adjoining room you may prepare your meals. Naturally, the neighbouring inn (50 m) or the other restaurants nearby are happy to welcome you.

  La ferme

Guy is in one of the finest trades in the world: he is a farmer. He is happy to disclose this to all those who love nature and fauna.
The Roman chapel from the 11th century overlooks the Rock of Solutré and is the evidence of the presence of the monks, “les Bonshommes”. 1000 years ago they already cultivated this ground. “La Ferme du Prieuré”, the farm of the priory, has been worked by Guy´s family since 1830. Today it occupies 70 hectare in 4 communes and 2 Regions!
Among the four-legged inhabitants you find 40 Charolais cows and 50 goats.
The farm breeds calves and kids and produces genuine goat´s milk cheese, everything in an ecological way. The sales are developing and soon we can buy eggs, chickens, rabbits and of course cheese with an ecological guarantee. The ideal would be to buy all these products directly from the farm. Remember to get a rendezvous to make the organization of the job easier.
